Ryder Cup Host Venue: Bethpage

This year’s Ryder Cup will be played at Bethpage Black on Long Island, New York. On one side, the gleaming gold trophy; on the other, the most famous warning sign in U.S. public golf: “The Black Course is an extremely difficult course which we recommend only for highly skilled golfers.” Official match days are September 26–28. Narrow fairways, deep bunkers, thick rough. The grandstand at the 1st will sound like a football stadium—the pressure starts on the very first swing.

The famous warning sign at Bethpage Black

That white sign with red letters means you’ve come to the right place. Bethpage State Park has five 18-hole courses, ranked from most friendly to most demanding: Yellow → Green → Blue → Red → Black.

Yellow is the welcoming coach—just get you around with a smile.

Green is the locals’ everyday track—intuitive routing, brisk pace.

Blue has an “old-park” feel without being dull—wider fairways, more forgiveness, ideal for a warm-up round on a trip.

Red turns solid and punchy—bunkering and landing areas ask for precision, the “just right” challenge for many golfers.

Black is the final boss—the sign already sets the tone. Sightlines squeezed by bunker chains and rough, par-4s that play like par-5s, closing holes that flip with a change of wind. That hard-nosed character is exactly why it’s hosting the Ryder Cup this year. The pictures will be dramatic.

These are public courses in a state park, not a private club, so travelers can book them—Black is simply hard to get. The rules are straightforward: verified New York State residents can book “7 days before the target tee date at 7:00 p.m.”; non-residents “5 days before at 7:00 p.m.” All five courses open their booking window at the same time. Strategy: sprint for Black first; if you miss, pivot to Red; if you want an easy add-on round, circle back to Blue/Green/Yellow. Two notes: Black is essentially walking only, so plan your stamina; if needed, request an official caddie through the club for lines and bag carry—it makes the day far easier.

Yesterday (Japan time Sep 16; roughly Sep 15 in the UK), Team Europe departed London for New York. Over the next two days they will walk Bethpage Black, doing “recon + pairing” work. Media and official channels have posted departure and arrival footage. Captain Luke Donald also confirmed bringing VR scenarios into prep to simulate New York-style high-decibel noise and off-course distractions—desensitizing the nervous system in advance.

A frequent client question: “Can you get me onto the host course?”

Watching: Ryder Cup tickets and packages primarily flow through official channels. We can check availability and pair it with transfers and routing. For star-spotting and merch, practice days are best; for peak atmosphere, target Sunday and monitor official or secondary releases.

Playing: Bethpage is public; non-members can book. After the event unlocks, we follow the booking rules (residents 7 days / non-residents 5 days, 7:00 p.m. window), sprint for Black, keep Red as backup. Black is largely walking; you can reserve an official caddie for lines and carry to manage energy over 18.

One more note—next year’s PGA Championship is in Philadelphia (Aronimink). Tournament week (including practice days and activities): May 11–17, 2026.
