A Golfer’s Shopping Adventure in Tokyo and Mt. Fuji

If you’re coming to Japan for golf, chances are you’ll want to sneak in some shopping too. Tokyo is basically the golf shopping capital of Asia, and even on the way out toward Mt. Fuji you’ll bump into some pretty handy stores. Whether you’re new to the game or chasing that perfect forged iron, there’s plenty worth checking out.

In the Heart of Tokyo

Start with Golf5. It’s Japan’s biggest chain, and the Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Ochanomizu branches are loaded with everything from beginner sets to the latest releases. The big stores even have hitting bays and simulators so you can test before you buy. Heading out towards Fuji? You’ll see branches in places like Hachioji and Yokohama, perfect for a pit stop.

Then there’s Victoria Golf, with its famous Shinjuku store. It’s right in the middle of town, easy to get to, and packed with gear. A lot of travelers make this their first golf stop in Tokyo—grab what you need and you’re done.

For something with a bit more history, Niki Golf is the classic choice. They sell both new and second-hand clubs, and their Ameyoko shop in Ueno is easy to swing by while sightseeing. If you’re lucky, you can score a great deal on a used driver or iron set.

Tsuruya Golf is another long-timer. They stock international brands as well as their own clubs, which are well regarded in Japan. You’ll find stores in central Tokyo, but the closest one if you’re driving toward Mt. Fuji is out in Shimizu, Shizuoka.

And if you love hunting for bargains, you can’t miss Golf Partner. They’ve got the biggest used golf network in Japan, and the inventory changes fast—everything from the latest models to hidden gems shows up here. There’s even a branch right in Fujinomiya, which is perfect if you’re driving to Fuji. Mishima and Fujiyoshida don’t have Niki or Tsuruya shops, but Golf Partner usually fills that gap.

For the Gearheads: Miura & Epon

Now, if you’re chasing something special, Tokyo has a few spots for the really high-end stuff. Miura is legendary—hand-forged irons from Himeji, famous for their feel. Many tour pros have secretly used Miura heads even when their bag showed another brand. You’ll find Miura at places like Euroz Golf in Roppongi, Golf Shop PAL in Meguro, and sometimes at Double Eagle in Ginza. They all do custom fitting, so you can walk away with something built just for you.

Then there’s Epon, from Niigata. They’re actually the factory that makes clubs for a lot of the big global brands, but Epon is their own label. The gear blends buttery feel with plenty of forgiveness—serious craftsmanship. If you want to try them out in Tokyo, head to Golf5 Prestige in Nihonbashi, Shinjuku, or Hiroo. Those shops have the full line and proper fitting setups.

Wrapping It Up

So here’s the plan: if you want everything in one shot, Ochanomizu is the place—Golf5, Victoria, Niki, and even Mizuno’s flagship are all there. For a treasure hunt, hit Golf Partner, and for the ultimate artisan experience, go Miura or Epon. If you’re driving toward Fuji, drop by Fujinomiya’s Golf Partner or Tsuruya in Shimizu, maybe even peek at Gotemba Outlet.

And honestly, if you’re here in autumn, you’ve hit the jackpot. The weather’s perfect, the mountains are glowing red and gold with maple leaves, and you can mix shopping with a round or two on some of the most scenic courses you’ll ever play. Who knows—the club you pick up in Tokyo might be the one you’ll remember every time you tee off under those autumn skies.
